Yoga & Mental Health of Inmates on Hospice

Yoga is recommended for the elderly to enhance quality of life by improving overall mental status. This study published in International Journal of Yoga evaluated the effectiveness of yoga on a population of elderly women inmates residing in a hospice. Yoga therapy was provided for 60 minutes twice a week for 12 weeks and found to decrease levels of depression and anxiety along with improving self-esteem.
