Challenges of end-of-life care include primary “physicians’ dearth of training in talking about end-of-life care, lack of reimbursement of such discussions and a definition of hospice care that limits its use until patients are at the brink of death”. In this article, the author, Rubin, includes accounts of family members in decision-making for their loved ones and difficulties faced. Rubin also delves into a brief history of legislative progress for end-of-life planning and where it stands currently.
